What’s new and a couple notes

If you will be home Labor Day Weekend, please come to our S’mores on the Street neighborhood gathering Saturday, August 30th at 7:00 p.m. in front of Sara’s house, 2693.  The board will provide marshmallows for roasting and neighbors are asked to provide graham crackers, chocolate and chairs and blankets.  You are also welcome to bring a beverage of your choice.  We’ll send out another reminder as this gets closer.  Should be a fun night!

There are several new documents on the ACC page pertaining to fence and paint guidelines.  Please check them out.

On the Meeting Minutes page you will find updated minutes from the 6/30 board meeting as well as draft minutes from the 8/19 meeting.  If you need the password for this page, please email any board member.

If you are interested in seeing our financial records at any time, you can make an appointment with Sara, our treasurer.  Just drop her an email.

Last, please note that childcare is NOT available at board meetings.  Meetings are intended for adult homeowners only.  Thank you!

Board Meeting and Newsletter

Our next board meeting will be Tuesday, August 19th at 7:00 p.m. at the president’s house (2711). Observers are always welcome!

Second, a big thank you to Mackenzie Foley for volunteering to put together the summer newsletter. You should have received a copy by now, but here is the (much prettier!) color version. We appreciate you, Mackenzie!!

Can you help?

Saturday, July 26th we will be sprucing up the mailbox stands and would love your help! Loose boxes will be reattached and the shelves and posts will be re-stained. The more hands we have, the faster it will go. If you are available for even half an hour, please email Justin at avondaleglenpresident@gmail.com . Thanks for your time!

ACC Job Description

The Architectural Control Committee is made up of 3 members who are appointed by the HOA Board of Directors and serves a 3 year term. There is no limit to the number of times they can apply for this job. The duties of the ACC include:

  • Reviewing homeowner submissions for projects and approving or denying their request.
  • Addressing and investigating homeowner concerns and complaints.
  • Issuing non-compliant notices when a homeowner violates the CC&Rs and guidelines of the ACC.
  • Running neighborhood contests such as Yard of the Month and Best Decorations

The ACC makes decisions based on set precedence, established ACC policies and the CC&Rs.  All decisions are majority rule. All members are required to participate in the decision making process by physical presence, teleconference or email.

One member is chosen as the Chairperson. The Chairperson is the ACC representative. This individual serves as the liaison between the HOA board of directors and ACC members. E-mail correspondence is received by this individual and he/she distributes the information to the other members for discussion. He/she is responsible for organizing meetings, for keeping the ACC records and writing the non-compliance notices. Time requirements on this committee can vary. Most decisions are made through e-mail; however, there are meetings periodically to determine winners for contests and for more complicated cases that may need debate.
