Board Meeting
There will be a board meeting on Friday, August 21st at 7pm. Meeting will be held at the Secretary’s house (2740) on her deck to allow for social distancing. This meeting is to document HOA business that has occurred over the past 6 months. Members are welcome to attend the meeting, however, attendance is not necessary.
volunteers needed
We are looking for two people to help stain the front split rail. We are thinking sometime this Saturday, August 22nd. Once we confirm volunteers, we can coordinate a time. Brushes and gloves will be provided. We are anticipating this to take roughly 30-45 minutes. All volunteers will receive a $15 credit towards 2021 HOA assessment. Please contact Sheri at avondaleglensecretary@gmail.com . Thanks!
Barking dogs
This is a reminder to please quiet your barking dogs between the hours of 10pm and 7am. Neighbors have complained that this is becoming an issue again. Please be considerate and deal with the problem. Thank you!
Yard of the month winner
Congratulations to 2692, Lot 14 on being our Yard of the Month winner for August!
Happy 4th of July!
A quick reminder to please abide by Kitsap County and City of Poulsbo rules. Aerials, such as bottle rockets, sky rockets, missiles and mortars, firecrackers and homemade explosives are illegal and should not be used. For non-emergency calls about fireworks the county asks you call 360-307-5811. Fireworks may be discharged until 11pm tonight. All of this information can be found on this link https://www.kitsapgov.com/dcd/Pages/Fireworks.aspx . Remember the fire department is stretched thin on the 4th of July and may not be able to get to you. To help prevent a fire we suggest that you mow your lawn, get rid of dead plants and water your property this evening. When discharging fireworks have a hose or fire extinguisher on hand. Also, be sure to soak discharged fireworks in a bucket before throwing away. Fireworks and alcohol do not mix, so have the sober one in the group be in control of the festivities! We hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July!
4th of July
This year with public 4th of July displays cancelled, we figured many of you would be purchasing fireworks for your own celebrations. While the neighborhood has no restrictions on the use of fireworks, the City of Poulsbo/Kitsap County does. Here’s a link from Kitsap County that answers frequently asked questions: https://www.kitsapgov.com/dcd/Pages/Fireworks.aspx
and another from Poulsbo Fire Dept. : https://www.poulsbofire.org/fireworks-information Please be careful when buying fireworks from the reservation. Not everything they sell is legal! We recommend purchasing your fireworks from stands within city limits to avoid a problem. You don’t want to be that guy who damages his neighbor’s house from a wayward aerial! Thank you for respecting your neighbors and have a safe 4th of July celebration!
New for the neighborhood!
Recently the HOA board installed dog waste stations to encourage and remind pet owners to clean up after their dogs. Our next project will begin installation today! To improve communications, the board will be installing display cases on the 4 mailboxes. Today the frames will be put up. Construction strength adhesive will be used and we ask that everyone (the children especially!) not touch them while they cure. Once the frames are firmly in place, the cases will be installed, most likely tomorrow. We hope you enjoy the improvements we are making. Please contact us if you have any suggestions or improvements you would like to see!
May Reminders
Happy May Homeowners! This is a reminder that the Yard of the Month contest has begun again. This contest runs through September. Winners receive a $20 Home Depot gift card and a sign to display on their lawn for the month. Now is a good time to review the Maintenance Standards and understand what is expected of you and the penalties for not keeping up your property. We have noticed that some bushes/trees need to be pruned away from the sidewalk. We are also asking that everyone pull, weed whack, pressure wash etc. the weeds in the sidewalk in front of your homes. Yes, this is more aesthetically pleasing, but more importantly it helps preserve the sidewalks. If everyone took 10 minutes a month to do this, it would help keep the sidewalks from cracking. Thank you!
Work Party opportunities
The board would like to remind everyone about the Landscape Work Party program. This program allows the HOA to save money on landscaping costs by having homeowners maintain the front common area. This is an opportunity for homeowners to better their neighborhood and earn credits to lower their HOA assessments. We have several homeowners who take advantage of this program and practically pay nothing in dues! If you have been unfortunately laid off recently and would like to benefit from this program, please contact Sheri at avondalglensecretary@gmail.com. The current schedule ( landscape work party sign up sheet 2020 ) can be adjusted so that everyone has the chance to work. Thank you!
