Alert- Car break in

Laura Miller at 2722 has reported that her car was broken into early Thursday morning, around 2:30am. Their porch lights were on and their camera was activated but they were unable to capture their faces. If you have a camera and have footage of someone or a car early Thursday morning, please turn it over to the police.

As weather is getting warmer and people are going back to work, it is being reported that break ins are on the rise. Let this be a reminder that despite us living in a nice, quiet neighborhood, we are not immune to crime. Criminals want to get in and out as quickly as possible, without being seen or heard. Your best defense is to put as many obstacles between you and them. Here are some tips:

  1. Keep your doors and windows closed and locked
  2. Keep your lights on or install motion detecting lights in the front and back yards
  3. install/turn on your alarm systems
  4. Park your car in the garage
  5. Don’t “flash the cash”. Keep valuables out of sight and do not store them in your car
  6. Get a dog
  7. Keep your house in the open. Trim back your trees and bushes
  8. Report any suspicious activity or cars. Criminals will sometimes “case the joint” before breaking in
  9. Let your neighbors know if you are going out of town. Ask them to bring in your trash cans, newspapers or to mow your lawn if you are gone for an extended period of time

Just remember, desperate people will do desperate things. You can create a security fortress around your property and still fall victim to a crime. Stay vigilant but your live your lives!

One final reminder: Please be sure to contact the HOA Secretary at avondaleglensecretary@gmail.com to report neighborhood news. There is an Avondale Glen Facebook page but this is not run by the HOA and not many homeowners are on it. The Secretary has this website and email list to quickly get news to the neighborhood. Thank you!

Volunteer Needed

Hello! We are in need of a volunteer to work in the common area this Saturday, May 8th at 9am. Volunteers receive a $15 credit towards their 2022 HOA assessment for 30 minutes of weeding and pruning the garden beds. Landscape Work Party 2021

The landscape work party is an HOA program that allows homeowners to earn credits toward their 2022 assessment by weeding, pruning and raking the common area on Saturday mornings (9am). Homeowners receive a $15 credit every Saturday they work. Work takes approximately 30 minutes and you must use your own tools. You may view the schedule here: landscape work party sign up online 2021

If you are interested in participating, please contact Sheri at avondaleglensecretary@gmail.com.  Send the day(s) you would like to volunteer.  There are limited spots, so we will try to give you as many of your requested days as possible.  Once the schedule is finalized, it will be sent to you and an email reminder will be sent a week before your work day.  Thank you!

Board Meeting

There will be a board meeting on Friday, January 22nd at 7pm. The agenda will include President turnover, ACC appointments and 2021 assessments. Due to Covid, we have decided to have this meeting through Zoom. If you are interested in observing, please contact the Secretary at avondaleglensecretary@gmail.com. The Zoom meeting number will be emailed to you Friday morning. Due to the limited amount of time we have, we may not be able to allow observers to speak. We apologize for the inconvenience. You can always contact a board member via email or send a letter to the PO Box if you have questions or concerns. Thank you!

Car break in last night

We have received word that one of our neighbors had their car broken into last night. Luckily, the police was able to apprehend the guy. As a friendly reminder, don’t let your guard down when it comes to crime. We do live in a nice, quiet neighborhood but crimes have happened in the past and will happen in the future. Make it harder on the “bad guys” by leaving your porch lights on at night, locking your doors, and never leave valuables in your car. We encourage everyone to keep a watchful eye on who is walking around and report any suspicious activity. Crime happens everywhere. All we can do is take precautions and work together to keep each other safe!

Assessments are due

This is a courtesy reminder that the 2021 HOA Assessment is due.  If you sent your check recently, thank you!  Mail service has been slow and it is probably on its way to us.  If you have yet to mail your check, please do so soon.  All accounts with an unpaid balance on January 15th will receive a $25 late fee plus interest.   In addition, only members in good standing will be eligible for the $75 Covid rebate check set to be mailed in February.   If you are having financial issues that prevent you from paying the assessment now, please contact the HOA Treasurer at avondaleglentreasurer@gmail.com and set up a payment plan.  Members who fulfill the terms of their plan will not incur a late fee or interest and will still be eligible for the rebate check.
