Happy 4th of July!
Here are some tips to keep safe during the holiday:
- mow your lawns and prune dead shrubbery
- water your landscaping this evening
- light fireworks in the street, not in your backyard
- keep a water bucket, garden hose and extinguisher nearby
- do NOT use aerials such as mortars, bottle rockets, etc.
- watch your neighbor’s property for signs of fire
We wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July!
A Message Concerning 4th of July
Dear Neighbors,
In the past week, several homeowners have expressed concern over the use of fireworks in this neighborhood on the 4th of July. It is very easy to see the effects from the lack of rain and triple digit heatwave has had on everything. Lawns, bushes, trees and wooded areas are bone dry. We are asking that everyone please reconsider purchasing fireworks this year and attend a public display instead. If you must purchase fireworks, please buy legal ones only. You can ensure this by going to vendors within city limits. If you choose to go to the reservation, please stay away from any and all aerials. This includes things like mortars, bottle rockets, bumble bees, etc. In the years past, we have learned that the local fire departments are extremely overwhelmed during the 4th and more than likely will not be able to answer your call for help. Please be sure to light your fireworks in the street, not in your backyard. Also, be sure to have a bucket of water, garden hose that is turned on and, if you have one, a fire extinguisher nearby. In addition, many neighbors may be away from their homes that night. It is important that we all be vigilant and watch for fires on our neighbor’s property. By taking the extra safety precautions, we can all have a safe and happy 4th of July.
Thank you,
HOA Board

Alert- Car break in
Laura Miller at 2722 has reported that her car was broken into early Thursday morning, around 2:30am. Their porch lights were on and their camera was activated but they were unable to capture their faces. If you have a camera and have footage of someone or a car early Thursday morning, please turn it over to the police.
As weather is getting warmer and people are going back to work, it is being reported that break ins are on the rise. Let this be a reminder that despite us living in a nice, quiet neighborhood, we are not immune to crime. Criminals want to get in and out as quickly as possible, without being seen or heard. Your best defense is to put as many obstacles between you and them. Here are some tips:
- Keep your doors and windows closed and locked
- Keep your lights on or install motion detecting lights in the front and back yards
- install/turn on your alarm systems
- Park your car in the garage
- Don’t “flash the cash”. Keep valuables out of sight and do not store them in your car
- Get a dog
- Keep your house in the open. Trim back your trees and bushes
- Report any suspicious activity or cars. Criminals will sometimes “case the joint” before breaking in
- Let your neighbors know if you are going out of town. Ask them to bring in your trash cans, newspapers or to mow your lawn if you are gone for an extended period of time
Just remember, desperate people will do desperate things. You can create a security fortress around your property and still fall victim to a crime. Stay vigilant but your live your lives!
One final reminder: Please be sure to contact the HOA Secretary at avondaleglensecretary@gmail.com to report neighborhood news. There is an Avondale Glen Facebook page but this is not run by the HOA and not many homeowners are on it. The Secretary has this website and email list to quickly get news to the neighborhood. Thank you!
