We have a work party opening this Saturday, July 17th at 9am. Volunteers earn a $15 credit towards next year’s assessment for 30 minutes of pruning, weeding, and raking. If you are able to help, please contact the secretary at avondaleglensecretary@gmail.com. Thank you!

Please be careful when power washing the sidewalks. We have noticed that some of the curb numbers are harder to read. When power washing, please do not direct the stream towards the curb numbers. If you wash your numbers away, it will be your responsibility to repaint them. Thank you!

There will be a board meeting held on July 9th at 7pm. This meeting will be held at the Secretary’s house (2740). All members are welcomed to attend, however this is not mandatory.

Here are some tips to keep safe during the holiday:

1. mow your lawns and prune dead shrubbery
2. water your landscaping this evening
3. light fireworks in the street, not in your backyard
4. keep a water bucket, garden hose and extinguisher nearby
5. do NOT use aerials such as mortars, bottle rockets, etc.
6. watch your neighbor’s property for signs of fire

Dear Neighbors,

In the past week, several homeowners have expressed concern over the use of fireworks in this neighborhood on the 4^th of July.  It is very easy to see the effects from the lack of rain and triple digit heatwave has had on everything.  Lawns, bushes, trees and wooded areas are bone dry.  We are asking that everyone please reconsider purchasing fireworks this year and attend a public display instead.    If you must purchase fireworks, please buy legal ones only.  You can ensure this by going to vendors within city limits.  If you choose to go to the reservation, please stay away from any and all aerials.    This includes things like mortars, bottle rockets, bumble bees, etc.   In the years past, we have learned that the local fire departments are extremely overwhelmed during the 4^th and more than likely will not be able to answer your call for help.  Please be sure to light your fireworks in the street, not in your backyard.  Also, be sure to have a bucket of water, garden hose that is turned on and, if you have one, a fire extinguisher nearby.   In addition, many neighbors may be away from their homes that night.  It is important that we all be vigilant and watch for fires on our neighbor’s property.  By taking the extra safety precautions, we can all have a safe and happy 4^th of July.
